Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Polysomnographic Technologist Sleep Technician to join our dynamic sleep medicine team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive sleep studies, monitoring patients throughout their sleep cycles, and ensuring accurate data collection to assist in diagnosing sleep disorders. Your expertise will contribute directly to improving patient outcomes by providing high-quality, compassionate care in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. Key Responsibilities
Duties:
• Prepare patients for sleep studies by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and performing necessary physical examinations.
• Conduct overnight polysomnography (sleep studies) using specialized equipment to monitor brain activity, eye movements, muscle activity, heart rate, respiratory effort, airflow, and oxygen saturation.
• Monitor patients continuously during sleep sessions, adjusting equipment as needed and responding promptly to any patient concerns or emergencies.
• Analyze physiological data collected during studies to identify patterns indicative of sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, or narcolepsy.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to review study results and assist in diagnostic evaluation.
• Maintain detailed documentation of patient interactions, technical procedures performed, and study findings in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Ensure the cleanliness, calibration, and proper functioning of all sleep study equipment and supplies.
Skills:
• Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy principles and physiology related to sleep and breathing patterns.
• Proficiency in interpreting medical terminology and understanding anatomy relevant to sleep medicine.
• Ability to perform physical examinations and assess vital signs accurately.
• Experience working in a sleep center or similar healthcare environment is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with diagnostic evaluation techniques used in sleep medicine and polysomnography procedures.
• Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Knowledge of medical safety protocols and emergency response procedures related to sleep studies.
