South Florida Infusion Therapy
Infusion therapy is a method of delivering medication directly into the bloodstream through an intravenous (IV) line. This approach is commonly used when medications cannot be taken by mouth or when they must enter the body quickly and effectively.
Many modern treatments, especially biologic medications derived from living cells, cannot be taken orally because the digestive system would break them down and reduce their effectiveness. Infusion therapy allows these medications to be delivered safely and efficiently.
In most cases, infusion medications are prepared by a trained medical professional at the time of treatment. The medication is typically mixed into a bag of IV fluids and administered through an IV catheter placed by a registered nurse. This process allows the medication to enter the bloodstream gradually while the patient is monitored to ensure comfort and safety throughout the treatment.
Delray Beach Infusion Center
Our Delray Beach Infusion Center is designed to provide patients with a comfortable and welcoming treatment environment. The main treatment area features reclining chairs in an open setting, with privacy draping available when needed. Patients can relax during their infusion while enjoying cable TV and complimentary snacks.
For those who prefer a quieter setting, we also offer a smaller private room with a reclining chair for the patient and an additional chair for a family member or friend to sit comfortably during the visit.
Infusion centers are commonly associated with specialties such as oncology, hematology, infectious disease, gastroenterology, and rheumatology, where many treatments are administered through infusion therapy. While some medical practices offer infusion services within their offices, many physicians choose to refer patients to dedicated infusion centers where specialized staff and equipment can provide efficient, comfortable, and closely monitored care.

Receiving infusion therapy in the hospital typically takes longer than receiving the same infusion in an office-based Infusion Center. As a result, many patients find it difficult to get their infusions in the hospital and value the accessibility and affordability of their local office-based Infusion Center. Hospitals typically charge much higher fees for their services, even if they are offering the same or lower level of care for infusion patients.
The National Infusion Center Association believes that the office-based Infusion Center is currently the most cost-effective site of care for patients needing infusion therapy. They have a more controlled environment and are often more patient-friendly due to their focus on administering infusion medications.
